MK3 Restoration

Recommended Posts

Hi all, after a 2 month wait I've just got my refurbished brake servo back. Not sure if I'll have time to get it fitted and bled this weekend but  once I do I'll let you know how it performs!  Hopefully it'll at least stop now :)

May I ask who refurbished the servo, and the cost?

Cheers

Hi all, just after a bit of advice.

A new master cylinder was fitted  to my car last year (not by me) and I think it is a land Rover type but the reservoir clashed with the vacuum connector on the brake servo.  Now I'm putting it back together I'm trying avoid having the same problem. Here is a photo of the original (dead) master cylinder and the new one, you can see why there is now a clearance issue.

I've relieved the edge of the reservoir as much as I can and have also fitted a couple of washers between the servo and the master cylinder to gain a bit of room. Am I right in thinking that the washers won't be a problem once the system is up to pressure and the servo rod is against the plunger in the master cylinder?

Here is a comparison of the original and Land Rover master cylinders fitted and the clearance issue is easy to see.

Yep landy one, won't be a problem you could swap fitting for a right angle one, spin servo 180* so it's at bottom.

Cheers, I was wondering if it would be ok to turn the servo upside down, I guess it makes no difference to how it works.

I popped along with my car to a little gathering of classics for the residents of a care home today, even the sun came out!
