M5Greg 83 Posted June 27, 2019 Little bit of an update, the trimming is ongoing and after the T bar is trimmed I'd asked Aldridge to get the windscreen fitted but today the windscreen fitter has looked at the new screen I have supplied and states its to big. I know there is 2 different size screens but was always told that as long as the matching rubber was used either one fitted, the actual message was that the screen I have is a 700 and I need a 727 which is slightly smaller. The sizes I always went by were the larger screen is 61.5 with the small rubber and the smaller screen 60.8 with the bigger rubber so not sure what they are talking about with 700 and 727. The screen fitter has offered to find another screen or linish the windscreen frame which I really don't like the sound of, being 200 miles away from Aldridge doesn't help and my new screen is a brand new tinted with top tint. That sounds a little worrying tbh. Don't remember you altering the windscreen aperture at all so there shouldn't be an issue.
M5Greg 83 Posted June 28, 2019 I did a few repairs on the side but nothing major, I’ve told them to leave the screen for now and I’ll try and get it sorted when it’s here. Just hope the fitter is wrong or I’ve put the wrong rubber with it.
M5Greg 83 Posted July 6, 2019 The car is still not home yet, when I went to look at it last week there were a few little bits that needed finishing so hopefully it should be coming home this week sometime. The screen looks like its in but it isn't so still need to sort this out when its back home.
GhiaMk4/5 206 Posted July 7, 2019 Your car is looking superb. Are you pleased with the trimmers workmanship?

Thank you, I'm very pleased with their work especially as the old hood is shrunken and has had bits cut off of it so they didn't really have a decent pattern to copy from. I had a bit of a nose round while I was there and they do some really good work.
Beowulf 87 Posted July 7, 2019 Glad you are happy with them Greg. Looks to be good quality and I hope you can sort that screen out. 👍👍

M5Greg 83 Posted July 14, 2019 Just having a look for some new hood catches which are the same as RR Corniche and the V8 Aston Martin when I came across this interesting article, it's worth reading until the end. http://makanannusa.blogspot.com/2015/08/rolls-royce-corniche-and-bentley.html?m=0

M5Greg 83 Posted July 15, 2019 I liked the cost when last available was $3000, they shouldn't be that expensive if they were made of Gold.

M5Greg 83 Posted July 21, 2019 I had removed the rear seat covers from a mk5 Ghia so I could cover the badly trimmed rear seat on TNC but the foam backing was just crumbling away so I dropped them into Aldridge with the car to have the foam replaced. The covers came back looking really good except for a little fading at the top, unfortunately when tensioning the back cover it tore in a couple of places where it was sun damaged and not just faded so will have to think about having all the seats re-trimmed in an alternative material unless I can find an undamaged rear seat, if such a thing even exists.
