Lounge Lizard 0 Posted February 8, 2015 Visually which do you prefer? The Cortina wins for me. The rear of the Taunus looked a touch gawky in comparison. I always loved the rear light clusters on the MK3 Cortina and I was so proud that my dad had chosen well. In fact the only other light clusters that came close were those hockey stick shaped ones on the Hillman Avenger.

PFM1964 5 Posted February 8, 2015 Taunus Coupe for me though the MK3 saloon rear end is better than the Taunus saloon rear end
Captain Scarlet 95 Posted February 8, 2015 I think it would possible to make the best car out of the two ! LL,you certainly are keeping everybody busy on here since you joined keep it up,better than tumbleweed like on quite a few forums lately.
wolfrace 116 Posted February 8, 2015 Like em both, but in real life when i look at the rear light clusters on the taunus its a much better design, I was parked next to buzzards taunus at the Yat A couple of years back so had a good opportunity to check then out. The non coupe 2 door taunus saloon hasn't got the kicked up coke bottle hips of the cortina though.

I'm drooling over everyones motors.
martog 141 Posted February 8, 2015 Signal Orange 2 door S. My biggest gripe is no 2 door mk4 shape S or Ghia. Also no Coupes either.
sheffieldcortinacentre 647 Posted February 8, 2015 never been a fan of the TC1 esp coupe (mk3 shape) the coupe works in TC3 (mk5) shape.
Ale06 7 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) Taunus TC1 looks more modern than MK3. I love the sweet shapes of TC1, specially rear end wich is awesome, same with lower body. But MK3 has a very agressive and sexy front with a nice hood and front wing, but I still prefer the front grille of GXL/GT versions. Twin light of MK3 are amazing. :headscratch: I love both. I wish I could have my MK3 too. When I was very young (In 70s and early 80s) and we hadn't internet and nobody knew about Cortinas in my country, I remember the time when I saw a MK3 in an Australian movie. I thought it was a previuos model of Taunus TC1! Edited February 8, 2015 by Ale06
consul315 180 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) Visually which do you prefer? The Cortina wins for me. The rear of the Taunus looked a touch gawky in comparison. I always loved the rear light clusters on the MK3 Cortina ... i was 6 years old when the MK3 Cortina, Taunus MK1 were launched and was very keen and interested in new cars back then. as in my country both cars were sold, i could have a direct comparison in the streets. to me the design of the Cortina looked much nicer, especially the back (i liked the rear lights as well, which were more stylish and modern then simple ones of the Taunus) and i didn t like the combination of rectangular and round headlamps as on Taunus GT/GXL, while i loved the sporty front end of the GT/GXL Cortina. with the distance of age, i also enjoy a Taunus I, though i wouldn t like to own one myself  . i had a couple Taunus MK1s (even a rare "Strada"), but these i always passed on immediately! the only advantage i could see nowadays in a Taunus is the V6 engine, but otherwise the Cortina :icecream: definitely would be my choice! for those who like piccies: http://www.buysellcortina.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/38291-taunus-mk1-strada-ltd-edition/page__p__343187__hl__taunus__fromsearch__1 http://www.buysellcortina.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/30455-today-i-bought-a-car-i-never-wanted/ Edited February 9, 2015 by consul315
Captain Scarlet 95 Posted February 9, 2015 and i didn t like the combination of rectangular and round headlamps as on Taunus GT/GXL, Yes i agree, what were they thinking !!!,its one thing to have a round auxiliary spot light bolted on to a car with square lamps, but to design and build a mix of square and round into the grill is just pure bad design work. Spoils an otherwise excellent car, apart from the dashboard,Cortina preface lift dash for me.
ChristinaGXL 23 Posted February 9, 2015 It's not really fair to compare the Mk3 saloon to a TC1 Coupe. It is fair however to compare the 4dr saloon to the 4dr saloon: I do really like these, they are pretty nice looking cars. They're just not as nice as the Mk3. You need the curves. ChristinaGXL 23 Posted February 9, 2015 Not a fan of the dash either, but that'd take about 5 minutes to make like a mk3 one.
