consul315 180 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) it was the MK1 Cortina that made me interested in Fords at the age of 2 (!) in 1966, and to me all British Fords of the 60ies and 70ies are dream cars (though Consul Classics, Corsairs, Zephyrs etc. were very rare over here), and if ever i should come into money, i´d like to own at least one example of every type! :icecream: Edited February 24, 2015 by consul315
Lounge Lizard 0 Posted February 24, 2015 I could well be an age thing. I remember seeing Cortinas, Capris and Granadas being flung around on programmes like The Sweeney, The Professionals and Minder etc and I'm sure that's a reason why I love Fords of the seventies so much. consul315 180 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) I could well be an age thing. I remember seeing Cortinas, Capris and Granadas being flung around on programmes like The Sweeney, The Professionals and Minder etc and I'm sure that's a reason why I love Fords of the seventies so much. i spent my early childhood in a very small village (ca. 400 inhabitants) and there were not many cars (compared to nowadays) around there - think i still can remember all of them: my father: 1953 Steyr-Fiat 1100 N mayor: ca. 1960 VW Beatle neighbours: 2x Renault 4CV (one was a scrapper i played with the neighbour girl in), Simca Aronde, 1958 VW Beetle, Opel Rekord B, Steyr-Fiat 600 and 1100RL, Simca 1000 grocer, blacksmith and funeraldirector (one family made all): Ford FK 1000 van innkeeper: Ford worldglobe-Taunus 12m (ca. 1955 model) carpenter: VW T1 Splitscreen pick up midwife: DKW 3=6 police man (only came occasionally as village was too small for own station): Steyr Puch 500 and the farmers around the village mainly drove VW Beatle, Opel Rekords or Ford Taunus 12m/15ms and there was a sales representative who owned that marvellous, good looking sporty MK1 Cortina DeLuxe, when i saw that car i promised myself, one day i ll have one myself! gladly my father bought one soon after the Fiat gave too much troubles. but merely by accident, as a boy he had teached at school started to work for a Ford dealer (dn t dare to think of if he would have worked for VW or Opel  ) hope i didn t bore you with that long list! Edited February 24, 2015 by consul315
