not rover, far as I know it was supposed to be of another car, but all that seems to have been around at that time is the BL one & royale one????

 

I see what you mean now, having looked at the Royale Coupes in Google images. They are a "modern" type of badge, rather than a "script" type.

mk1 golf 4dr rear 1/4 light.

 

any chance of a good pic of the carbodies badge on rear panel? mines missing along with tonneau cover.

 

jog is number 4 ,

 

rvm 934 w is number 7,

 

was told the coupe badge on them is from the Vauxhall royale coupe but had a look & it doesn't match & its part of the royale badge not separate.

closest match I've found is from the Renault megane coupe!.

 

to best of my knowledge the cars original break down as follows

 

6 in white

5 in red

4 in yellow

3 in silver

2 in brown

2 in blue (1 metallic)

1 in red (metallic)

1 in green (metallic)

 

13 supplied by Bristol street motors (Birmingham)

6 supplied by quicks (Manchester)

5 supplied by perrys (London)

2 supplied by crayford

 

only one lhd was done (2.0 V6)

 

1 1.3 manual.

1 2.0 (V6)

5 1.6 (4 manual,1 auto)

14 2.0 (3 manual,5 auto)

4 2.3 (V6 2 auto)

 

28 in total where converted 1 was written of & 1 stolen never found, as of 2012 approx 16 where known to survive.

 

would be interesting to know the current status of them all.

Definitely from a Royal coupe because thats were I got my last one from.

I had the Carbides badge made up a few years ago it's ok but not perfect, and here is the coupe badge after I filed the remains of the Royale script off.

Am I right in thinking greg that the Carbodies badge is just a piece of Perspex with the writing you show below just stuck on the reverse?

Yes, I got the clear Perspex cut to the right size then had a sign making firm do the letters, the silver is one sticker which went on first then a black sticker on one half and a white sticker on the other.

 

I'm hoping to get some better ones made up by a local sign maker and engraver, I'll let you know how I get on.

No it is held on by 2 small self tappers but be careful because some are screwed through the C and the P and some the O and the P, I'm in two minds if I'm going to screw mine on or use some proper badge fixing tape.

I got mine from a Vauxhall spares specialist, who told me how rare it was, I didn't have the heart to tell him I was going to break it in half.

 

If you get all the car done and still haven't found one I'll let you have my spare one until another one turns up.
