littlenewt2067 33 Posted March 14, 2015 Ive not done anymore on the car other than remove the calipers as they were seized solid and I couldn't roll it in and out the garage on my own. A big thankyou to Mk5greg..I popped down today to catch up with him and got a LOT of information from him...It was fantastic to see "inside" the car so I now know what has crumbled away on mine! I also found out that my car was registered at one time as 601 DUT which was a nice touch! Greg, I measured the holes on my boot lid and they are 38mm between centres...do you know which badge I need..which parts should have the holes if you know what I mean? When you are ready I'll dig the two out I've got and see what one fits, they both have the different hole variation.
littlenewt2067 33 Posted March 14, 2015 Cheers, knowing my luck one would come up and I'd buy it and the spacing would be the wrong one!
M5Greg 83 Posted March 14, 2015 Cheers, knowing my luck one would come up and I'd buy it and the spacing would be the wrong one! If you get one direct from a Vauxhall it shouldn't have any holes in it, the holes were drilled when they were put on the Cortina's. I've just sent you an email with some pics.

Pete-H 69 Posted March 15, 2015 As you will be stripping the car anyway have you thought about making it a Tin Top convertible using a roof and C pillar from a 4 door and the workings from a convertible Focus it would be unique still and may workout easier than reinstating what you have already. Just a thought that may be worth looking at.

littlenewt2067 33 Posted May 28, 2015 Well nothing much has happened on this, I am grabbing a few bits here and there for it, but it will be some time before I start. I thought today I would see if it would start. The guy I bought it from had had it running but I had never tried it. I think there is a blockage in the fuel line as he had put some pipe onto the bottom of the fuel pump and run it off a petrol can, so I thought I would have a go. There is a diesel galaxy in the background clattering away, so when the Cortina starts it may be difficult to hear but runs quite nicely! The clutch was free, but I have cut and clamped the front brake hoses as the calipers were seized and freed off the rear barakes so it couldn't go for a drive! M5Greg 83 Posted May 28, 2015 Thanks guys, I just sometimes get that feeling I might have bitten off more than I can chew, but after seeing Barrys car on Monday at Enfield that keeps me on the right track! I've had that feeling a few times but it soon goes away, it will be worth it when it's done and I'm more than happy to come and give you a hand (I can make tea or something).
