Crusader sees daylight

Recommended Posts

Hello, All,

Just about to put my '80 back on the road after four years solitary confinement in my garage (the car, not me).

I'm thinking of taking it to some shows this summer, but don't really know if it's up to that standard yet - any comments/tips appreciated!

Here are some pics I took (just after cleaning her up a bit):

45K is genuine, though I've brought that average down a bit by not driving anywhere for 48 months!

Yes, I know, I know - the mats have to go! Anyone able to recommend a good quality supplier?

All pretty standard in the cabin

The spare is a bit of a disgrace, I'm afraid - on my 'to do' list, along with sourcing an original back-seat liner to stop the boot looking too messy

The worst rust on the car is around the near-side rain-channel of the boot (as you can see here) - another little job for the list!

At least I have a boot-mat, albeit a bit worse for wear

Seats need a bit of a steam-clean!

Engine bay is a bit average; I could do with replacing the rusty four-branch, but I don't think it's gonna come off without a fight.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back behind the 'tina wheel - hope to see some more on the roads this summer!

Looks sweet to me. Should see the state of mine :) I only go to the cortina show at Monmouth as it's a great excuse for a pi ss up with really good company.

Are you kidding? The car looks great - get it out and about!

Titan blue over silver is the nicest Crusader colour combo IMHO...

Wow, what a lovely car! Seeing such a great condition Cortina is so alien to me, mine is currently resembling a pile of scrap metal and rust ;)

You will have a great summer of shows and cruising :)

Lovely motor. That's one to be proud of. I bought a boot divider from Old Ford Parts. Not an original and haven't opened it yet. I'll let you know what it's like.

looks good nick to me but even if it hadnt I would still say take it to as many shows as you can - its not all about trophy hunting theres a bunch of us in the north west who try and get to a show every weekend over the summer , for cars, coffee, cake and craic.

That's a very top dog one love the black bumpers and windscreen filler strips, if I buy the XR6 next week I'll be looking for those windscreen filler strips and bumpers I can't see I'm going to find original XR6 bumpers.

I have sprayed the chrome filler strips satin black before so that could be an option?

Anyway enough about me, great car a real credit to you.

That is one smart looking Crusader

It needs to be at Monmouth on the 7th of June so you need to get yourself on here and get your application in http://www.tcfg.org.uk/page10.php

Between now and then use the car as often as you can so that any mechanical problems arising from it's 4 year lay up can be ironed out before you start hammering it up the motorway to south Wales, see you there
