stevep28 3 Posted May 16, 2015 Well this week, after having been looking for what seems a long time, I finally got my 'ideal spec' Cortina. Jan 1982 Ghia, 2.0 manual, in a nice blue with black vinyl roof. Great to be back in one of these, the last time I drove one would have been back in early 1986! Needs a few little jobs doing, mainly new front brakes, and electrical bits and pieces to investigate. The main thing though is that the bodywork is spot on, dead straight and solid and not a sign of rust anywhere. Just some cleaning to do. From old receipts etc it's been in Surrey most of it's life so if anyone knows it give me a shout. I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions in the near future, but for now here's a few photos (sorry it's not even been washed yet):

V6Ghia 37 Posted May 17, 2015 Congratulations, your car looks stunning, I look forward to seeing more pictures. It looks a very straight car and ideal for a nice drive to Monmouth in June
CorNada 2 Posted May 17, 2015 That looks a great motor, good colour to, especially in the Ghia spec, crack on and get tinkering and cleaning the end result will be worth the hard work trust me.
stevep28 3 Posted May 17, 2015 Yes overall I'm happy, ordered new calipers and pads yesterday so that should sort the brakes. Fitted new rear shocks which makes a big difference. Spent a frustrating morning trying to solve electrical gremlins, can't get headlamp main beam to work, but will get another stalk to try as I've cleaned and checked everything else with no luck. Windscreen washers aren't working so need to look at that too. Small things but electric stuff isn't really my thing.
