CorKtina 17 Posted May 27, 2015 What date is that show lads.....? My Camper is getting it's topcoat today and will be back with me very shortly so I'll be looking for places to go (Not going to make the Yat I think) (It was last year at Monmouth that I got my first panels and needed them as Phorbiz will testify....I've spent €900 on panels now and €2000 in the bodyshop, but i\ think you'll lke what you see when it comes home (well Phorbuiz will anyway). The All Ford section of the show seems to be getting bigger to my mind, what's the thinking on that?

I like the idea of all Fords but there should be a cut off date some time in the mid eighties to accommodate Granada's up to mk2 and Capri's but certainly not Mondeo's or Focus etc. My own opinion is possibly more contentious as I would ban Sierra's and mk3 Granada's too :sofa: I do love mk1 and mk2 Transits but not mk3's. Steve E 0 Posted May 27, 2015 Its too far for me 4Hr drive in a normal car never mind an old Cortina!!! I have been to the old yat which was good crack but the site was very tired to put it nicely and the parking ticket issues etc Is there nowhere up near Worcester which is more in land and further up north? team_radius 8 Posted May 27, 2015 I think to answer the main point of why it isn't more popular has to be down to fact that not a lot of people know that it exists. I love Cortinas, I have done since a very young age. I didn't find out about this show until about two years ago when I joined MTOC and BSC. It is not advertised much in the usual Classic Car mags. So I am not surprised it is not more popular, ....shame.... Every time I park up somewhere folks love talking to me about "My dad had one of those" etc and they do have the fond memories for a lot of people. If only the knew the show was on. So more advertising is needed  As for camping, I enjoyed staying at the 'New Yat', a couple of photos, but I should of taken more. Give it a try ! V6Ghia 37 Posted May 27, 2015 entered my St170 one year...... Shame on you Mr Norton, If I turned up in my Mondeo I would hide it well out of the way :ninja: It is always good to see you though even if you do bring a crap car
brightorangeGT 1 Posted May 27, 2015 I cant afford Cortinas anymore so, - I'll be coming along in my old Mondeo - I did offer to park outside but told I'd be welcome inside - so that's where I'll be......
deltamal 38 Posted May 27, 2015 I think a lot of owners can't be bothered to go to a show, our biggest local show (Devon) is Powderham Castle near Exeter in July, there are 3000 or so exhibits on display, mine will be on the Old Skool Ford stand no shortage of members around, 14,000 around the country but we will struggle to get 6 cars there! shame as it's a top show..... sheffieldcortinacentre 753 Posted May 27, 2015 the problem is its not advertised outside the small Cortina world. it needs to be in the show listings in the general classic mags, I find that most people just don't know its going on. as for the camping as said last year some of us require electric hook ups & as its 2015 I think this isn't much to ask. V6Ghia 37 Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) Well as a daily sierra driver i guess that puts me out. :( I am sorry I do not want to cause offence, I did say this is just my opinion, to my shame I have a Mondeo as a daily driver, at least a Sierra drives the correct wheels. I am not saying you shouldn't come in your car, just that it does not interest me the same as a Cortina. I am looking forward to seeing your real car though and would like to see that next year. Beowulf 87 Posted May 28, 2015 Yep, just not advertised well at all. When talking to locals outside the show when talking about the car THEY dont even have a clue that the car show is just on their doorstep.
