the-ford-cortina.com 226 Posted May 29, 2015 I go to all them you listed - dont take the Cortina to Santa Pod though - you will be surprised when I show you what I AM taking.
CorKtina 17 Posted May 29, 2015 I suspect a lot of people are like me and have more than one Cortina, but only one of them road-worthy, the other's being a future project, parts donor, whatever. I think petrol costs are part of the issue - it's a 1-day show and it would be £100 in fuel from many areas of the country (my example- travel from Newcastle upon Tyne, fuel is £1.13 a litre, car gets 30mpg). There are also other shows - the Mk1 & Mk2 is huge. Classic Ford show, Fords on the Front. Lots of good shows to choose from. I do Cortina Day every year, but it's local for me, otherwise like those I've listed I would do it once every few years. I know I'm probably the exception but I've been every year (except this one ) since 1999 at huge cost.... the ferry alone is €300-400. It's a one day show but many people (including the Yat die-hards on here) turn it into a whole weekend. Maybe what is needed is making it a weekend event? It has so much untapped potential Trouble is the showground isnt available ,say, thurs to tues and has sparce facilites
frankie2.8 13 Posted May 29, 2015 Its the people I like about the weekend, that and the cars. I Always enjoy it. Frankie
the-ford-cortina.com 226 Posted May 29, 2015 Trouble is the showground isnt available ,say, thurs to tues and has sparce facilites It is available I think - its just the owners want paying for every day its booked for . The more people we can get to use it the more facilities they can afford to provide , thats why I think the 19* people on the list from here who are going to camp at the Yat should give the showground a try next year - 19 boozers will make a differance to the profitability of the beer tent , 19 more campers is a boost to the organisers funds etc. etc. * I know Craig wants electric hook up and doesnt drink but theres always going to be someone it doesnt suit - it doesnt suit me because I dont do camping :juggle:

Danish 294 Posted May 29, 2015 you will be surprised when I show you what I AM taking. Not a beavertail with a car on the back, on its way to/from somewhere?

MLI 8 Posted May 29, 2015 you will be surprised when I show you what I AM taking. Could it be a beavertail with a classic Ford for sale? :)

If they did so on facebook/twitter it would reach anyone in any one of dozens of Cortina pages....loads more than they are advertising to now, which is bascially people who already know about it. I have been doing the facebook promotion today - lots more groups out there to hit though if anyone wants to join in . " THE THREE COUNTIES FORD GROUP is made up of a handful of Ford enthusiasts " they probably have lots to do at the moment so I thought I would help out. D-FENS 80 Posted May 29, 2015 (edited) Its not always a good thing if meets become to big .I used to go to the Ace cafe quite often a few years back and the Old Skool Ford nights became a bit of a nightmare if you couldnt get in the car park.Whitwebbs Ford day sometimes gets rammed as well .Wheels day last year was grid locked on the local roads so sometimes small is good .Classic Ford meet at Santa Pod is rammed getting in and out unless you want to leave late . This is very true , I am setting off around 6.am for Santa Pod to try and get there before the queue is too big , there is room for Cortina Day to get bigger yet though , there was no queueing at all last year to get onto the site that I saw and often times with nobody entering, though it wasnt overly quiet
