The Yanks have always loved their Mustang's Camaro's, we have London Manchester they have Detroit, Dearborn Michigan it's part of their heritage

Ford are about to launch a new trim level that will be top of the range called Vignale. It will first appear on the Mondeo and will feature leather trim and have a range of subtle metallic body colours (exclusive to the Vingale) it will also not have any badge stating Mondeo and you’ll get free car washes by turning up at a Ford dealer amongst other things. I think Ford are trying to get back some of the market they had with the Granada and also to compete against Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Audi, with the latter two now having a slightly poor image as in driven by chavs/drug dealers/bad drivers, now could be a good time for Ford to snatch some of the market back. I have noticed that in the last 5/6 years Ford have been slowly and subtly trying to position themselves as a premium brand.

Lots of the French like cars , even classic Fords but especialy classic French makes. Lots of classic car following in Ireland and massive classic car scene in Malta - far more per capita than in the UK.

 

Strangely I also sell a fair few classic car parts to Thailand - mainly Anglia 105E there must be dozens at least of these cars being restored there.

Yeah, if any of us here had the money for one of those Vignale Mondeos we'd far sooner spend it on a classic. But if classics weren't an option and I had to buy a modern car, let's be fair to Ford, that Mondeo does look like a whole load of car for your money so I would be very tempted (2 door though please). After all, it is a Ford :D

The shape is the standard "executive coupe" shape - much like the Jaguar XE, Audi A6, Mercedes C-class, etc., just with the new Fiesta/Focus grille. :(

It was best that they did. Ford started to use the trim levels to push sales,when the vehicle was not that great in trim level. For example,I have a Sierra GT,and it is just a standard 8v dohc. Trim is not substantially great. GT back in the 60's and 70's meant something,superior engines and suspension etc
