started building the MP3 system which interfaces with an orginal Blaupunkt 1971 'Manheim' set.

built looms etc to slot into cortina harness.

rebuilt the radio to control all the sounds

this sytem leaves radio untouched apart form some control switches but allows full mp3 control with a USB stick located by steering column.

The 'Manheim' set is a lovely period 1971 unit with L, M and FM native

as well as a digital FM from the added circuits, mp3, line in, and Blutooth input

All controlled from orginal radio buttons.

I have matched the radio bezel with a nice woodgrain in same patttern as dash

I also modified the radio illumination to give a red glow to the buttons to match the overall feel of the red interior.

the set did not come with electric aerieal control so i tapped into the power switch and added that.

the 'Manheim' sets whilst nice donthave off on volume so i retro fitted an off on volume switch and used the existing panel switch to power up the mp3 module.

its all running lovely

im doing this whilst waiting for body shell to go off for soda blast.

i have wrapped the mp3 conversion loom in ford grey loom tape to make it all look nice.

I DREW OUT THE SCHEMATIC ON A LARGE WHITEBOARD so i would have a plane of the wiring which also includes the blutooth handsfree mobile phone. sat nav, full immobiliser and tracker looms, wash wipe controls, auto dim mirror, interior light delay, seering column ign swich illumiation, and few other features

all features are built in seamless and should nto be noticed when looking at car.

the mp3 system has all booted up nicely and is running very well on bench

theres also an underseat subwoofer system that is part of the loom

thats running too

bench tested and ready to fit to car.

Ken

im at home doing this

I love it

welding is aclose second.

love welding too

i can tell you it runs a dream, the manheim sets sounds the business it has that old skool transistor feel to it, and you can tune the radio as normal but then switch in all the new features, and it looks lovely glow in the dark, nice illumination on the set with a bulb glow and then the red filter over the push buttons. looks the business Ken

AND!!! its got bluetooth and a line in jack for passengers to hook into.

yet its all orginal set, you would never know till you boot up.

real deal

Like the idea of the red Filter to match the ruby interior, the White/blue worked really well on SWAMPY, and yet again you've lifted the bar by adding Bluetooth top work think its an ingenious system 👌🏻
