cortina-city 141 Posted October 2, 2016 Thanks Guys its one for Craig I think. I notice the flexplate holes on the DOHC flexplate are slightly different spacing, so looks like i need pinto flexplate that will suit the a4ld TC I want to keep the lockup tc im wondering if i can mod the DOHC flexplate by welding a BW35 flexplate, by cutting in amachine shop a perfect circle around the mount point area of the FP then welding that to then getting the plate balanced.? becuase i have a spare BW35 flexplate, i mean just cut the mount section out of it in machine shop with precison cutter, weld it to the DOHC plate? take it an engine shop and get them to balance it i have searched for pinto flexplate with no luck if i do find one will ring gear suit the a4ld setup re starter motor etc deffo one for craig spent good few hours on net with no definitive answers.... cortina-city 141 Posted October 3, 2016 Steve thanks for the photos the mounts look good and straightforward i am using a cut up shell as a mock up at first looks like the orginal mounts will be removed ill carefully drill the spots and keep the mounts, ill mark positions on the shell and blank with blind grommets that way it can go back to type 9 easily. ill rivet on the t shift tunnel plate after drilling spot welds off the gearstick manual hole just need to find the right flex plate steve did you say c4 box? im not sure what a c4 box is, i heard of C3s but not c4s? was this a leter box between c3 and a4ld? if so what car was it fitted to? many thanks
