Danish 294 Posted December 10, 2016 started to build the engine and gearbox test jig this will enable me to run the engine and gearbox up Hmm, I replied to this earlier, but my reply seems to have disappeared :headscratch: Anyway, nice stand. I got that Mk5 engine bay to do the same thing, but it's so much bigger.
cortina-city 141 Posted December 10, 2016 thanks folks well ill be fitting some wheels to the jig frame, and the rad mount and a battery mount, also the control panel to run the electrics. plan is to have engine and box fully running on this jig. once done it will be transferred as full assembly into the front clip once clip all rebuilt of course then its ready to just offer up into shell upon its return from paint. paint is maize yellow with probably some mild metallic in. I have other jobs to do such as axle, zinc passivae, rechroming, wheels to refurb etc but must admit, I don't see a lot of work really. I hope to be sat with a pile of refurbeb parts waiting for the paint to do their stuff. I want to be ahead of the game and ready so that I can adhere to my timescale of June 2017 completed. Lobby 99 Posted December 13, 2016 Just been catching up on your thread Pete, loving your approach to all aspects of this build: The electrics The auto box The engine / box jig And especially the Cortina chill out / contemplation time :) Looking forward to seeing this one in the flesh. I'm assuming there'll be bumper Christmas video from Cortina City?

I'm assuming there'll be bumper Christmas video from Cortina City? Thanks Pete well I had problems with my camera and also I had 2 weeks off in NOV so not as much footage as usual, however im catching up, new vid very soon, latest camera is garbage, so im buying the same one that broke as its really good despite the fact they only last few years, its worth it for the result, I can get the camera quite cheap now (Panasonic dx10) ok well finished the engine jig, fitted the battery tray and attacked the unit with yellow paint for health and safety, yea right also tried out my new super duper parts tumbler to pre clean all nuts n bolts for zinc passivate. better results on zinc if you clean parts up first tumbler is a winner
