FKLGLS 44 Posted July 24, 2015 A mk4 ghia in Jupiter red and a bvr ? Whats not to like about that ! I think that's a really nice car. :winner: :winner:
RomanBronze 0 Posted July 24, 2015 While I remember, my VIN plate says colour is "78". This isn't an option on the VIN plate decoder drop down. The paint I've found so far has a code of "E7". Anyone have any "Jupiter Red" knowledge? Don't know the exact codes info for Jupiter Red but it's correct for the age of car if that's what you mean? There was a very similar shade called velvet red available at launch on the Mk4 but I think it was replaced by Jupiter late 1977/ beginning of '78. Mk5Mike 36 Posted July 24, 2015 Ford seem to chop and change their paint codes each model year but 78 is indeed the code for Jupiter Red for the 1978 model year (for 1977 it would have been 37 I think).
lowtina 2 Posted July 24, 2015 Is this the car that sat for years on the mothers drive in Thorpe bay? I think the guy was abroad or had passed away.... My mate Steve bought it and then I think a guy called lee had it from westcliff? I have no idea. The only history I can dig out is that a chap on here called "Kerbz" owned it around 2012/2013. Looking at the VOSA mot history, it needed mucho work in his ownership as the previous MoT was clearly very "Friendly"! :angel_not: A mk4 ghia in Jupiter red and a bvr ? Whats not to like about that ! I think that's a really nice car. :winner: :winner: I know! I've never managed to snap up a ghia either. She's not as pretty as all the others on here but I hope to help her a little with that! Don't know the exact codes info for Jupiter Red but it's correct for the age of car if that's what you mean? There was a very similar shade called velvet red available at launch on the Mk4 but I think it was replaced by Jupiter late 1977/ beginning of '78. I just wanted to check that "78" was Jupiter red and whether "E7" is likely to be a similar shade. The old girl appears to have had a blow over at some point and a few new panels. The paint is suffering in places so, until I can repaint the lot, I want to touch up some areas with aerosol. :battery: NB. that is a battery, apparently, but looks like an aerosol can if you squint??
martog 148 Posted July 24, 2015 Interior is this colour....... "Biscuit" is what my wife tells me but that makes me hungry so I say comfortable-trousers-beige. It's currently adorned with grime from several decades and an odour I can't quite place but I hope to clean it all up very soon. Incidentally, if anyone has a ghia driver's seat and/or rear seat in this colour, I could swap for some actual money? My versions of these are a little tired! Thanks for your reply. Biege does seem to be the most popular Ghia interior for the darker exterior colours.
lowtina 2 Posted July 24, 2015 Thanks for your reply. Biege does seem to be the most popular Ghia interior for the darker exterior colours. No problem! Hopefully that means I'll find some new seats! I do wish it was black though!

grifterkid 1 Posted July 25, 2015 That is a gem... It's in a wonderful colour and must be quite rare sporting those headlamp washers...?! Nice one.
MARK-H 21 Posted July 26, 2015 You had a bargain there, I wish I had not hesitated and bought it myself now  keep me in mind if you sell it please

Yes, I'm not sure I've seen a mk4 with headlight washers? Anyone else got them? Mind you, they won't get much use!
lowtina 2 Posted July 26, 2015 You had a bargain there, I wish I had not hesitated and bought it myself now  keep me in mind if you sell it please  It would appear so. I hope to keep these 3 for a long time but you never can tell! It's a shame though as I've had it a week and it's sat in the rain for most of it! :(
lowtina 2 Posted June 9, 2016 It's been off the road since late last year. Time is scarce but I've managed to: Strip and rebuild rear end. All painted/powdercoated. New -1" springs. Strip interior. Weld up seat mounts where they always rot! Paint and fit new O/S wing. It's a pattern part but fits surprisingly well! Has painted up well too for aerosol! Paint match is off as I think the car had its repaint in a different shade. :( But it's much better than before! I just need to fit the new, black interior, fit the new wheels and rebuild the front clip and she can be driven again! Next year will see more bodywork clean ups and a rebuilt engine. lowtina 2 Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) Good progress, but we need more photos  I know! I never remember to take photos! And when I do they're always a bit blurry! I'll try! :angel_not: I'm working on a rack conversion too that I will try to document. It has power steering currently but the rack is very tired and leaks most of its fluid from all over the place! I'm trying out a few "replacements" to see which is easiest to graft in place of the original. For now I'm just replacing the gaiters to get an MoT but it needs to be replaced soon.
