bortaf 93 Posted August 12, 2015 They wernt offerd as a factory option but over the years i have fitted loads of granada windows and switches i've even owned a few dealer fitted options both the box over the window winder spindle (servoglide) and adapted granada lifters. Usually the switches ended up between the gearstick and H/B lever, on Mk4's the switches were usually on seperate brakets but they could just as well have been cut into the consol. I still have a few bits of the servo glide system, it was rather complicated with travel limit switchews at the top and bottom of the window trravel, i also have some alterd mechs from a Y reg Ghia i had with dealer fitted E/W and C/L but they are just cut down granada (pre face lift Mk2) window mechs and C/L locks which bolt straight in. You can fit a granny consol in a cortina but it doesn't fit quite right being too wide and not a snug fit under the dash.

Might be interested in doing this. Is it an easy task to do? Frankie

I broke a Scimitar with that servoglide system on and electric windows were a common Reliant fitted feature from new - NOT using servoglide
wreckers771 4 Posted August 12, 2015 ive never heard of a factory fit/option for electric windows on mk5 cortinas. When iv fitted them I use mk5/6/7 escort items as they mount on rubber bushes and were easy to fit!!!
Steve Walton 130 Posted August 12, 2015 Hi, I have a 1982 MK5 2.0 Ghia and it has factory fitted electric mirrors. The adjuster switches are both located in the Drivers door. Both switches are in the same unit. Don't know if they were an option or were fitted as standard on the last year of the Ghia's Cheers Steve

Don't know if they were an option or were fitted as standard on the last year of the Ghia's Cheers Steve Electric mirrors were fitted to Ghia's as standard and optional on other models for '82 models only but not the first month or two of '82 models. Bortaf gave the correct answer to the question on windows.
bortaf 93 Posted August 12, 2015 Did the granada lifters fit in the mk5 doors without any issues Rob? Might be interested in doing this. Is it an easy task to do? Frankie One screw lines up on the bottom of the door (origional pos) then you either cut the top down or leave it wedged up the inside of the door, IIRC i left the center support scews out and just secured it to the glass so the runner moves as the window rises OR you can do it propperly and cut and weld the brasckets in the right place to make the lift runner sit at thee right angle, PFL Mk2 parts are so hard to find nowdays that it's easyer to use Mk6/7 escort IMHO simply as a supply issue. It's been a good 15 years since i last did it so memory is weak lol
sheffieldcortinacentre 749 Posted August 12, 2015 no they weren't fitted as std the one mentioned above had elec mirrors not windows as it was a late ghia. there where never any electric powered features (only the mirrors) fitted to cortinas. same as no 5 speeds or 4 speed autos. one rare option was heated front seats.
