Smithaam 9 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) just looked at one and says required PAUG sim? so I'm guessing its for data transmitting? if so how much do they use?? don't want to have to worry about topping it up every week, maybe chuck a cheap contract sim in?? Great idea, however the app needs some serious sorting. If you leave the app running it will eat up the phone battery in no time. If you try to shut down the app in the phone, it will start up again and kill your battery. Can't find your keys with a dead phone! therefore pretty useless. Useless. If in your house its alarm is so soft you'll never hear it. Sent it back. Awful product, does not work, doesn't find the trackrs even when you're in the same room (let alone on an animal) battery lasts 2 months, mine are now in the bin and I hope I have now lost them! Jason 5 Posted April 6, 2016 If you are handy with electronics and have a smattering of 'C' programming knowledge, you can build one cheap enough. An Arduino. GPS shield, SMS Sim card shield. A battery, regulated power supply and a box to put it in.. Wired up that it activates if the alarm goes off. Or set it up so it it's not deactivated and leaves a perimeter, it activates. Are solar trickle chargers any good? :thumbup: Used one for two winters now on my Boxster - keeps it ticking over nicely. I used one on the large battery on my diesel tractor. Similar reason of occasional use. Did the job beautifully for about 7 years before dying. I have one and used it for a while a few years ago. It is designed just to stop the battery getting flatter rather than actually charging it up.. I used to find when I didn't use the car very often the battery would be flat in about 6 weeks. With the solar charger on I didn't get another battery problem as far as I remember. It does work best if you charge the battery fully before attaching the solar charger for the first time though. I have flat antenna. ..broblems I'm told are...you can't have antenna anywhere under steel...so it has to be placed somewhere looking straight out of plastic glass wood..etc..no steel above it....now I'm not saying this is true. .But makes sense no?..
