bortaf 93 Posted March 29, 2016 I had a newly coverd set of ruby seat a few years back, they were way brighter than the door pannels BUT the door pannels had been in the dirty air and sun for 30 more years than the seats? and paint reacts very differant on plastic than it does on metal or leather? Usually new cars are black but the seats rarely match the plastics after a few decades in the sun/smoking/grubby bums on seat, the black seats go grey (lighten), the plastic stays black. As an aside it was 3 months before LOM came out and i got £120 for the lot, they were lowbacks but brand new :tears: the plastic trim matched the doors not the seat covers

cortina-city 141 Posted March 30, 2016 thanks for pics if youo look seats are lighter then cards which is what i have found here. Not due to fade it looks like its made that way. I lifted an unfaded pice of seat from bramble and an unfaded piece of door card. swampy however is all in the same shade of marquis but i think the carpet was a darker blue to get a contrast. thanks for all your help on this !!!!!!!!!!! great guys
cortina-city 141 Posted April 5, 2016 SOLVED thank you for all your help everyone. just to put all your minds at rest and to enlighten everyone: I got out the ford parts catalogue and looked up all the parts in the soft trim section. All colours are listed etc with trim options and colours. RUBY is a 2 tone scheme. by getting the catalogue you can read off what is 2 tone. they list items as: RUBY (light) RUBY (dark) same applies to tan and to olive. black is black of course and intersingly MArquis blue is all one colour. hence swampy all over blue scheme so i now have a definite list of all items in ruby light and ruby dark. i also now have the swatches for both colours and have sent the samples off to vinylcote so yes, ruby was 2 tone. its not connected to UV fade as we first suspected, though a good theory, its proved via the parts catalogue that some items are finished in alighter tone to achieve (i presume) an overell ambience. im quite pleased about this discovery as it means i can now commit to my colour scheme on PROJECT RUBY
