keithscortina 3 Posted May 9, 2016 I'm thinking of installing electronic ignition on my 1970 1600e , stop all the hassle of points etc. I asked my local motor factors if they still sold lumenation and they told me they not seen it in years. Are they still available ? Or do you know of an alternative electronic ignition that's available and where I can buy it ? Cheers
keithscortina 3 Posted May 9, 2016 Just been checking burton site, is the Aldon ignitor kit ok?
nosher 1 Posted May 9, 2016 I've got An Accuspark kit on mine.. Works fine, you'll have to get your rev counter converted to RVC spec as RVI does not work with electronic ignition.
Lotuscops 80 Posted May 9, 2016 I used the Aldon Ignitor & fitted it 10 years ago - not touched it since.
Pete-H 69 Posted May 9, 2016 The Ignitor is a better system and all self contained and looks standard when fitted. The technical support is great as regards getting the Tacho working they sent me two mods to try to get the Tacho working I've just got to pluck up courage to try them. chinkamon 14 Posted May 9, 2016 I used accuspark before found it really good but I noticed whereas accuspark is about 20-30 quid the others available are massive money!? Is there any reason there's such a difference in cost??
Dave53 0 Posted May 10, 2016 Fitted Acuspark to my 1970 1600E several years ago worked fine for a month or so then developed a misfire contacted Accuspark who replaced FOC no problems after, and the Tacho worked fine with it
Danish 294 Posted May 10, 2016 I fitted a Bosch system from an early Ford Sierra to my Mk3, and a similar setup from a Granada to my Capri - both just fit and forget. You swap the dizzie over then need to find a space for the amplifier module. Tacho works as well without mods.
garm 0 Posted May 30, 2016 I'm in the USA, so I got the Pertronix kit, works GREAT. Along with an alternator conversion, the car just runs a lot better.
waltermk3 15 Posted September 15, 2016 I had Luminition on a previous car and it was still fine and untouched 15 years later when I sold the car last year. They are expensive and maybe things have moved on since then. With my MK3 Pinto I installed Accuspark as it was cheap. The ring broke as I was fitting it. Got a replacement and this was no good. I spoke to Accuspark who explained that they could not offer technical advice as they just imported them and sold them. At least they were honest. I then cam across a complete electronic distributor at the NEC Class Car Show. The company was Ignition Car Parts of Basildon. They claimed when questioned that all their stuff was made in Essex. I bought one at the show for £65. It is still working OK.

Just been on their web-page, did you replace the coil with a "non ballast type"?.......and I'm assuming the 2 wires went to the LT side of the coil? Thanks. I removed the ballast wire and put a normal 12v coil on

Cheers If you type in Lumenition on a google search then the first 5 or so results are places where you can still buy the full kits, so they are certainly still available :)
scmark 0 Posted January 29, 2017 One question I have is that I have an electronic ignition system from a 1979 Fiesta with the Bosch full advance distributor. Would there be any problem with installing this on my '67? The full advance Bosch distributor was for the Fiesta XR2 with the 1600 Kent Xflow. I am putting a 1600GT engine in it since the 1500 died and easier to deal with the 1600 engines through the Formula Ford suppliers here in the US.
