Girling type P16 calipers

Recommended Posts

Are all Girling P16 calipers the same? I've heard of 3.25 INCH fitting or 3.5 and I see some Triumphs use them?

So would a pair of triumph ones fit a 1600E has anyone else does this?

Girling and ATE Type P16 Calipers the Pistons in the caliper on the left (ATE) are about 2mm bigger in Diameter.(no idea what it was from)

If its the same as the earlier P14 calipers ford ones had the brake pipes enter downwards from the top other P14 calipers used had brake pioes that fix in the middle if the side.

Are you sure that you aren,t confusing the P16 and M16 calipers. Remember that Mk2 calipers are imperial sizes and anything later is Metric

Cortina 1600E and triumph vitesse mk2 use the same break pads.

Yes, some Triumphs (TR6 etc) use Girling P16 and M16 calipers where the 2 fitting bolts are in a different position/distance, compared to the P16/M16 on a "normal" car (Ford etc).

The "Triumph" type P16/M16 will not fit on a 1600E.
