tony316 0 Posted August 4, 2016 Hi Guys, dont know if anyone on here can shed any light on a few things? I recently got the DVLA infomation on my 1600e (1969) the DVLA tell me that there is no records of the car with them untill 1976 as the car was registerd with the local authority?! so on the list of owners it starts with owner 2 who aquired the car in 1980! so i find it strange there a missing 11 years??? what could the local authority be ? any ideas? also my cortina is Light blue, ive also just discoverd it originally was WHITE!! that was a shock as I always thought it was originally light blue! I was planing on getting it painted in the near future, so IF YOUS were me what would you do? Keep it the light blue it is? OR go back to the original white? I must admit I do love the blue and its alot more unusual than white obvioulsy, just wonder what you guys would do if it was you car? and appreciate any info on what the local authority could be? any of your cars the same? and Lastly anyone ever come across the car? CLL691H ? just find all the history of the car Fascinating. thanks Tony

CLL691H ? just find all the history of the car Fascinating. thanks Tony Hi Tony I tried to find the full history on my previous 1600E some 20 years ago,i got the same list from DVLA like yourself but mine was missing the first owner for some reason, i dropped lucky as one of the previous owners live about a mile from my then house, i approached him one day and asked if he remembered the car which he did and told me that the first owner had been a potatoe farmer up in west yorkshire and the car had been registered in Wakefield, cut a long story short i approached Wakefield archives about car taxation in the 60s,they said i was quite welcome to come and view their records etc etc. on arrival i told them the reg number i.e. ABC 123H, out they came with these old ledger type books which was very interesting but it threw up the reg number of ABC 123  no suffix letter :(, they told me that when local authorities stopped taxing vehicles everything went to the DVLA but a lot of stuff did not get there and was most likely destroyed so its the luck of the draw,so if DVLA aint got it you will not find it, but i did get to find out it was bought by a spud farmer. not what you wanted to hear really but your question just reminded me of my quest years ago, another option you could try is trying to track down any of the previous owners to see if they can give you any info

Cosmicnick 1 Posted August 14, 2016 I dont think it matters too much if you change the colour of a car from it's original factory paint, a purist might disagree, for me as long as its one of the fords colour of the day the car was avaiable in, it wont look out of place,i bet a lot of silver fox painted cars changed it's colour due to issues with the paint flaking.. AND BLUE MINK cars , in fact a lot of the metalic ones have been repainted different colours over the years - some now back to their orginal colours of course

Jason 5 Posted August 15, 2016 On the subject of colour.. I'd keep the colour the same as is; if you like it. If you don't, consider changing it to original. Only time I would otherwise change it to the original colour is if you are building a concorse car or putting it back to 100% factory spec. It is your car. Do with it what you want. :) Jason.
