Which parts to Waxoyl? (mk3/4/5)

Recommended Posts

OK - two cans of waxoyl down and I have done the following areas:

Interior

- Sills (sprayed from holes beneath carpet)

- Door interiors

- Rear quarter panel (underneath rear cards)

- Boot floor quarter panels (pumped full of waxoyl on either side of boot floor)

- rear wheel tub (spayed along edge where it joins the quarter panel)

- B post (sprayed through quarterlight hinge holes, seat belt mount holes and from bottom of sill)

- A post (sprayed from underneath dash and inside kick panels in footwells)

Exterior

- Chassis rails (attacked from front bumper mount, engine bay access holes, rear bumper mount and interior floor plugs)

- Rear Y-shape suspension mount

- Rear vallance void (where fuel tank straps plug in)

- Inside fron wheel arches - on basis I will get a Lokari arch liner at some point, and this will then be like a box section

- Down sides of fuel filler neck

Other

- Boot lid (sprayed inside cross members)

- Bonnet lid (sprayed inside cross members)

- Scuttle panel (whole interior section where wiper mechanism sits)

- Wiper mounts

- Slam panel (voids in top)

- Front vallence section beneath radiator

- Behind Headlamp panel (where water seems to pool, but not drain)

- Seem where inner wing and chassis mount meet

- Inner wing tops

Has anyone else got any more recommendations?

OK- I have picked up some Lokari wheel arch liners for the front, the cost of which means a few people aren't getting any christmas presents this year.

If anyone is interested, I'll post some pictures and a write-up of my experience fitting them in my My Cortina page over the weekend.

I've never heard of Lokari wheelarch liners, are these a one-size-fits-all type product or are they tailored to fit individual models? I've got a set of Mk3 Granada liners for mine which apparently fit well, though I haven't tried to install them yet.

They're made unique for each car, and fort he mk3 they are basically a curved piece of aluminium (with reinforcement ridges pressed into them) which are cut to suit the profiles of the wheel arch interior.

They have a rubber "blade" around the edges to form a seal against both the inner and outer wing. They should work quite well in theory, but being semi-regid aluminium, I imagine there will need to be some bending and tapping with a rubber mallet to get them to properly comply with the wheel arch shape, but only time will tell.

I'll post a reply with a link to the My Cortina page when the write-up and pictures are ready.

I'd be interested to see how they fit.

I've been thinking to make a front arch liner to make a compartment by the front-of-a-post panel to house a fuel pump etc.
