cortina-city 141 Posted January 24, 2017 seems that, it goes to your head in the end. once elevated worked your way to the top and there, under your feet, the people that put you there. Fame, a famous disease.

sheffieldcortinacentre 747 Posted January 24, 2017 Well I do know someone who's had personal dealings with him & the show , he & it were a complete bunch of Muppets from start to finish that came close to serious repercussions for them.
the-ford-cortina.com 226 Posted January 25, 2017 Well I do know someone who's had personal dealings with him & the show , he & it were a complete bunch of Muppets from start to finish that came close to serious repercussions for them. I had dealings with a different car show - they were " a bunch of muppets " as well . One of the presenters was a top bloke , sort of apologised for the rest of them, the other presenter was a bit up his a***, though he did try and put on a friendly front . Show is Turbo Pickers. stopsy 2 Posted January 25, 2017 I think people presume they are watching someones life when watching TV. Remember nothing happens on TV that isnt aready set up and arranged months before, just look at Top Gear havent you ever wondered how they manage to get the perfect camera angle when something 'unexpectedly goes wrong' its called good planning. The shows like Wheeler Dealers & Car SOS aren't aimed at the likes of us, they are aimed at people with no practical experience working on cars. Lets be honest it would make very boring telly for the majority if they went into detail as to what they were doing. I have met Mike outside of his 'day job' and he is a genuine car fan, the TV persona is taylored to suit the audience, he may be full of himself sometimes but you don't end up on TV if you are boring. Unless you go on Eggheads that is.

Very well said but I think it is one of the few programs that gives an explanation when a repair is being done.Love Edd China and the program in general, also like for the love of cars but haven't seen new episodes. sheffieldcortinacentre 747 Posted January 25, 2017 Had plenty of experience with cars used by tv, so I've no illusions about what go's on . Have to agree to disagree I think it ranks up thier with Bernie & leepu , Tim Westwood shows for being the biggest load of cack. Like car SOS just spoilt by Tim Shaw otherwise an enjoyable show. cortina-city 141 Posted January 25, 2017 just using cars as the medium for ratings. a whitewash a gloopy mish mash of botch a roo from the shows, lets face it , what do you learn,. jack all. its just a form of digestion. consume, digest, excrete. it fills in a dead hour, wrapped in the pretence that there may be a vein hope of something technical we could learn. and occasionally there is , but its too skewed to attract and retain the wish wash audience. cortina-city 141 Posted January 25, 2017 speaking of which seen practical classic lately? just an ego show. its become entertainment instead of how to fix a car. reminds me of Maplin (so called electronics shop) now a remote controlled helicopter and spinning led charade. why , cuz people don't build things anymore they buy em and chuck em away in other words consume

wolfrace 116 Posted January 26, 2017 I encourage people to put together a pilot episode/film if they think they can make a more entertaining/informative show, always up for new stuff on the telebox. I bet there is a lot of initial outlay for equipment rental and other costs if you want it to look broadcast quality. I don't think it's a case of just getting a couple of go-pros, editing it in iMovie then phoning Sky to get a sit down meeting to get the show aired. Maybe if you are commissioned by someone to produce a show on the strength of your submitted film you can avoid losing the money you spent making it. All the studio/Station want is to commission a show that will attract viewers so it doesn't matter if it is a piece of art or if it's some sort of documentary on the finer workings of a car, if they have a concern people wont be entertained by it or it is aimed at too narrow of a demographic then it just wont fly. It doesn't really make for much variety.. but there we have it, it is why YouTube or self publishing is so popular these days and why the quality of much of that content isn't broadcast quality because no one wants to spend thousands on equipment and editing if they cant garuntee a return on that... wait.. that's exactly what the TV stations think when they are commissioning shows... See how that works?
