pancakedan 0 Posted February 14, 2017 Does anyone know how Ford restricted BHP on the MK3 1300 economy tuned xflow that was used from Feb 76? Cheers
bortaf 93 Posted February 14, 2017 Looking at the manual all i can see is differant dizzy and carb settings, differant jets and accelorator pump strokes, the only other listed differance is the engine code ?
pancakedan 0 Posted February 14, 2017 So swapping out the carb should remove the restriction and take it back to the standard tuned 1300?

If the engine code is different then surely there must be more to it than just carb / dizzy? Maybe different cam profiles on the camshaft, or different compression ratio? sheffieldcortinacentre 749 Posted February 14, 2017 The code refered to the state of tune, as said to best of my knowledge it was carb & dizzy related.
pancakedan 0 Posted February 14, 2017 Would a Weber 34 ICH be a straight swap for the 1300 Xflow?
sheffieldcortinacentre 749 Posted February 14, 2017 That's the single choke one if memory serves. Then yes.

wolfrace 116 Posted February 15, 2017 I always thought the HC logo on the xflow was for high compression? Or did it mean something else?
teletubby 7 Posted February 15, 2017 If you don't want the original carb after swapping for the Weber I'll buy it

rubberhead 4 Posted February 15, 2017 i had one of these in the 80s,i replaced carb with a twin choke from a 1300e.ran almost as good as a 1600 ohv.
sheffieldcortinacentre 749 Posted February 15, 2017 Yes hc means high compressìon, but the eng codes refer to more than compression ratio. Also after all these years the rocker cover or just the sticker may have Been replaced. A mk5 high compression engine with a vv carb as the eng code "LC" for example. wolfrace 116 Posted February 15, 2017 (edited) Yhea but would the high compression be to do with the head/pistons or block or does the head gasket increase this as I'm guessing they wouldn't say high compression if they'd just tweeked the carb and timing?
