Cortina Mk 1 GT 2 Door Rebuild

Recommended Posts

Heres some pics of just after I bought it. Needless to say the mud flaps and mirrors on the doors were the first thing that went into the skip when I stripped it

Car has been to the blasters and the panels have all been put back on for the final weld off. Rear Quarters etc all been file finished. Have assembled a full set of stainless trim and it has all been trial fitted before paint. Trim has gone to the polishers so looking forward to seeing how it looks when it comes back. I also bought a brand new NOS grille as well which was a great find.

Update, back end is all welded back together again and the front is 95% all welded as well. Currently working on the doors fitting NOS skin on one and a small repair on the other. Have trial fitted all the mouldings and everything lines up mint. Next up is trial fit the front and rear bumpers. I’m running quarter bumpers on the front so making sure all the brackets are spot on and it all fits perfectly. Finally can see the end of the panel and then it’s off for a final blast on the floor in amd out then off to paint.

Must say you are doing a really cracking job.

I would want to just clear coat the shell so that it can be enjoyed long term.

Cheers

Looking at the pics I see one more in the background... are you working on two at the same time?

Wow , excellent body work. As said above , it would be a shame to paint it.
