Cortina Mk 1 GT 2 Door Rebuild

Recommended Posts

This really is the correct way to restore a car, and I'm very impressed with you work, and the un rusty condition of you car, if only we could find cars in that condition here in the UK.

I would love to have done a complete strip down and repair / renovate as you have, but the reality is that it would never get completed.

I don't seem to have time to do the  amount of work I need to do to mine, which is very minor compared to the sterling work you are doing.

Thanks mate. It’s taken 4 years to get to this. It was 99% rustfree however it had had a big stack in the front at some stage and had been repaired badly so a lot of work went into fixing that. Hope to have it back from painter before Xmas.

Right, got the new set of rear quarter window rubbers and much better than the last set. These fit really tight and will need some careful trimming of the surplus rubber to get them looking good. Another box ticked.

Doors primered, new hinge pins, last badge trial fitted. Photoshoot this week of all the exterior in bare metal before it goes to paint.

Hi all does anyone have an original unmolested Mk 1 GT they could take some photos of the screws that fix the console to the brackets on the side and the below the rear ashtray and also the screws that fix the Ali trim in place by the gear leaver boot. Just need pics of the screw heads thanks. My OCD is kicking in to make sure it’s all as per factory. Thanks in advance if anyone can help

Pics of its first coats of primer. Just sorting the final colour so hopefully will have it back before Xmas and I can start putting it all back together again.
