I just realised the interior is the other end of the country and collection only.

If it was a 2.0 it should have a 3.75:1 atlas fitted.

As said all 2.0/2.3 mk3/4/5 came with an atlas axle.

Parts are reasonably cheap & plentiful if you bide your time.

A good daily useable car is around 2.0ish 5 speed, equipped with 100-130 hp

I think that may have been a kitcar doner.

If there's a V5 with reg number check it with dvla reg checker.

The vin should be on floor inside drivers door if it hasn't rotted away there.

If it is now a kitcar the dvla will want you to jump through expensive hoops to get it back on the road.

 

Personally I wouldn't have paid that much without a current V5 if I wanted it back on the road.

They only other way to put it back on the road "easily" will cause major arguments on here.

I've owned a couple of late 2.0 Mk5s in the past and both had Koln axles - I don't think they'd been swapped, just usual cost cutting by Ford...

The DVLA can be difficult to deal with, ten years ago I had a Jaguar Mk2, again I bought it with no engine and no VIN number, I intended buying a V5c for it to get it on the road as I didn't know the reg number. When I was stripping it down I gave the boot a clean and there was the reg number bleached thru on to the panel, it must have had a black Perspex plate with the 3D lined lettering as I'd had that before on a P5b. I applied for a log book, the DVLA officer appreared and looked at the boot, searched the car and found the metal body tag gining the VIN, I waited weeks, they got back to me and said to Q plate it as the VIN plate was now on another MK2 and who ever owned the VIN owned the title! So remember that when you are stealing some ones classic car, get the VIN tag you have bought from eBay quickly and it's your car!!

Seems like a whole can or tin of squiggly whatsits this VIN plate and V5 .... Plenty for sale .... Personally, I'd prefer the good old fashioned way .... :wine:

its a Cortina , its on the DVLA database , you have a V5 - JUST CHECK THE NUMBERS STAMPED INTO THE BODY MATCH THE V5 AND APPLY FOR A NEW ONE

I could be wrong but I think the vin no. stamped on the floor will be enough to keep the MOT man happy on a '79 car?

It would give a better impression if it had the proper one on the slam panel too :thumbup:
