Danish 294 Posted January 27, 2018 Managed to get the rear lower Sierra panel cut down and re-welded. Cut down the bottom end too and folded a 90 degree bend to finish it off.

Served me well over the 20+ years I have owned it. The dark blue one is my new welder. It's an R-tech 180 And an amazing welder for the price.

Beowulf 87 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) Spent the next session repairing the n/s Cortina light panel. It needed a new lip and other repairs: Lining it up with the sierra side: I had found some distorsion in the lower mid panel so I had to re cut this :( then putting the Cortina side outer panel on to check fit: Its not perfect but it does meet at the bottom so that will do for me. The Cortina outer side panels will need some work :) : more soon. Edited February 5, 2018 by Beowulf
Beowulf 87 Posted March 20, 2018 Its been a while :) Straight into it - Repairs to the Cortina side panels: Luckily I had 1 back panel that was mostly there so was able to copy and paste :)
Beowulf 87 Posted March 20, 2018 Bit more: These panels are not in the best condition, but I am never going to find replacements so repair is the only way. This one is worse than the other and is a bit battered in places so will need a bit of filling. Very rusty on the inside. cleaned up and kurust added:

wolfrace 116 Posted March 20, 2018 Cant knock your standard of welding, also making sections to fit from what's left. Or not in some cases.
XR6 3 Posted March 25, 2018 Great to see a bit more progress Tony. Are you keeping the sierra tail gate set up or modifying the bed to suit the cortina one ?

Beowulf 87 Posted March 27, 2018 Looking good mate it not be long before it's finished Should be ready for the Yat - fingers crossed! Cant knock your standard of welding, also making sections to fit from what's left. Or not in some cases. For an amateur I guess I am not too bad. Still far from professional though! Great to see a bit more progress Tony. Are you keeping the sierra tail gate set up or modifying the bed to suit the cortina one ? Hi Graham! All the external bits (apart from the lower rear valance) will be Cortina inc the tailgate. good to see you are still at it Keep plugging away at it lol :)
