Mk2 wiring loom multipin connector

Recommended Posts

I am refitting engine bay wiring loom to my mk2 deluxe, and my query is how are the multipin connectors supposed to seal and not let in water when engine bay side is connected to its other half inside dash side. Its so many years since I had this apart, and just cannot remember what is missing here to seal everything. Is there some form of clip needed that retains everything tight inside the rectangular hole? Any advice appreciated.

I think the engine side of block is stuck to bulkhead with seam sealer John.

If they are the same/similar to mk1 connectors which i think they are, then the bay side connector has a metal clip on it with tangs that grip it tightly into the hole. They are a pig to get out and often break off if you try to remove them.
