d.p.n.s 93 Posted March 3, 2018 so i have had a change of plans... this old girl is in pretty good shape so i have stripped the engine bay and all the sound deadening from the inside floor. to have the engine bay , floor pan and boot area media blasted. i have also decided to build a Australian assembled mk3 they ran a 250 xflow (straight 6)from a falcon (3.3lts or 4.1 lts) and a auto. so what i chose is a 4.1 alloy head from a xf race car it has a 200 bottom end (so its stroked out feather ) has a race cam , ported and polished head with valve work.. has a huge set of headers and a torque tunned inlet manifold with a 500 holley 2bbr carb. and a 4 speed single rail borg warner gearbox. i managed to find a factory 250 crotina sump and pick up and becausei will want to build a ITBs setup for it and go fuel injection... so i found a full EFI setup for a xf falcon so as you can see there is a huge problem with this motor and thats the fact it is huge. 800mm from back of motor to front of pulley so as with the factory 250 cortinas the firewall and slam panel are reset ...but my curiosity got the better of me so i sat the 250 sump where it should be and its huge haha and thats where i am up to sao far cheers

GhiaMk4/5 205 Posted March 4, 2018 Should be a flyer, straight sixes are nice sounding engines, especially with the spec of your engine, keep up the good work.
d.p.n.s 93 Posted March 7, 2018 tried the 250 cortina sump on the motor and it fits perfectly ....then curiosity got the better of me and out came the grinder.......its just sitting in there for now but it fits .people that don't modify/build cars just wont under stand the joy seeing the gearbox shifter sitting in the factory hole.

d.p.n.s 93 Posted March 16, 2018 love coming home to presents that i bought myself.....this did come with a dirty big black spider that strolled out of the box........after i . myself i gave it the jandal ...(no pics of that just a stain on cortina roof) 1

d.p.n.s 93 Posted March 24, 2018 so i managed to get the motor and gearbox mounted. sometimes i thing it is easier to make sump so i can mount the motor how and where i like.....but i did manage to get a factory 250 cortins sump and that 100% dictated where the motor sits.....there is a indentation for the swaybar and and another for the steering rack...and then you have a huge lump inbetween them for the oil pump. and then the rear bowl sump......i cut 2 plates to bolt to the motor and and then used cotton real mounts and cut doiwn 2.0 cortina mounts and welded them to the plates... as for the gearbox crossmember i picked it up from the standard cortina mounts and extended it back also have dropped the ITBs an falcon sandwich plate of to be CAD drawn and flanges cut
d.p.n.s 93 Posted April 11, 2018 now that should be all the steel needed to be removed from the tunnel and firewall before i start to rebuild. firewall rebuild started this little section needed to be removed as i think it will be in the way of the ITBs and my mate sent me a sneaky pic of the manifold we are trying to build for the ITBs pretty excited
