Mk1 Lowered height

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I know the original height of a mk1 is 56.5 inches but does anyone know the original height of front an rear arches?

Only because mine has been lowered slightly before and I know that you can only lower a certain amount although I have seen pictures of some that are quite low compared to mine and wondered how far off mine is from the limit?

If that makes any sense at all

Hi, Easiest thing is have a look at what size lowering blocks are on the back axle. They'll be 1,1.5 or 2 inch blocks

Mine is about 4 inches lower than standard. Lowered with decambered leaf springs

You can't go much lower without serious mods to the chassis.

Eg the prop shaft will start making contact with the tunnel

Yea problem is, there isn't any! The front springs are cut and the back leafs are slack so hang a bit low anyway I have lowering blocks but thought if I lower it too much it'll bottom out haha
