3775ZI 4 Posted December 9, 2017 (edited) The weather has stopped me doing much recently and with nothing to really report on my Cortina I said I'd start a thread for the Capri I bought. Capris mightnt be to everyone's taste but I first got into Capris as I couldn't find a 2 door mk3 Cortina when I first got into classic Fords, overtime I've began to like Capris as much as Cortina, so with Capri asking prices reaching silly figures at the minute, I decided I'd better find one this year before they go out of my reach if their prices keep rising. Thread below copied from another forum Bought this Capri a few weeks ago after a very long search. I don't wish to go looking for another anytime soon. :stunned:/>/> I lost count of how many I viewed but it was between 15 and 20 since last January . From cars described 'colourfully' prior to viewing and seeing their true condition in person, to a seller cancelling a viewing at 1am the night before I was due to view a car I thought would be 'the one', months chasing other cars that didn't pan out and some I feel got away from me. One was a 2.0 zetec, it was the first I viewed and thought I would find better which was an obvious mistake in hindsight. And two cosworths which I didn't get to view one a 2.0 and the other a 2.9. Anyway here are some photos, it's a mk3 with a 2.8 carb engine, that will be changed as it looks a tatty conversion . The car had a set of recaros fitted that needed usual repairs, I have since removed this interior and fitted an L houndstooth seats and black doorcards. 3775ZI 4 Posted December 9, 2017 The car came without a parcel shelf, I've put this old one in that I intend on tidying up, but for moment it will hide the boot contents. I will be fitting the mk2 grill also. The tyres on the car needed changing I've changed alloys for the time being, steel wheels will be going on the car next year. GhiaMk4/5 207 Posted December 10, 2017 Have you tried CapriPower, I'm on there because of my 78 3.0, in Stratos silver, very helpful people on there and lots of capris being restored all over the world, my passion for capris started when l was 18 when l purchased a 3.0 GT XLR,liked them ever since, good luck with the restoration. 3775ZI 4 Posted December 10, 2017 Cheers, the capri will be left pretty much as is for now, I've the interior and wheels changed. Have to get photos of this whenever i get to the car next. I'm looking into an engine change in the new year. After that there won't be a lot else done, body and underneath looks good, paint is decent so i won't be going too mad on it. Yes i've a copy of this thread on capri power, i've foubd that forum very quiet in a last year or so. Its a shame its quiet as there is a good bunch on there.
