Jpayne666 0 Posted December 16, 2017 Anyone ever paid to have a mk5 estate completely repainted ? After a rough figure before I decide what route I take with mine thanks
TIB3300 452 Posted December 17, 2017 You get what you pay for, when it comes to paint jobs. Top jobs cost in excess of £2,500 I spoke to a chap at a NRSA meeting this year who had some chassis work suicide doors fabricated and a paint job to die for costing ,,,,£50,000 :)

J2S 163 Posted December 17, 2017 Rusty /dents ,glass out ,fully stripped ,good paint just wants going over ,show paint ,cheap paint the list goes on I was quoted 7 thousand plus 20 % Leah way for a solid shell door shuts that was it . It’s not just the painting that takes hours but masking it properly ,de greasing ,anti static, tag ragging ,cleaning the booth . Yes you can have it painted for a grand but trust me in a year or so’s time them bubbles will be popping back up Also there are so many different types of painters 4 coats flat the . out of it ,to the ocd not a dust or 3000 swirls any where And looking like glass 5 years down the road. I doubt you would find any proffesional that would paint a car for a grand as TIB said £2,500 minimum for a decent job if you pay more than £5-6k you must just have money to burn

Jpayne666 0 Posted December 17, 2017 Thanks for replies, I understand it's complicated to say without looking at it. I'd be stripping it and doing as much as I could before hand ! Thanks again
mygasser 3 Posted December 17, 2017 most bodyshops will still have a few days bodywork to do before paint after the customer has 'done it all'. the average person can't see the flaws in the body that a professional can.
Matt cortina 1 Posted December 27, 2017 Prices depends on how far you want to go with it, there's a difference between a get-by-paint job, a show finish, and a decent, lasting lick of paint. And it depends what the car looks like in the first place, super straight and solid, or rust "here and there" with dents etc. Your best off posting up some pictures of the car for everyone to see if you want a rough guide to go by.
