65 Mk 1 GT 2 Doors To Many

Recommended Posts

Its back from the blasters and undercoated. Update in the link at the top. First thing is to source the panels. Need 2 sills, 2 rear quarters, front valence etc. Prefer NOS if anyone can help

Loaded more pics on my oldschool page. Got a price off Ex Pressed for repair panels but the lead time on the front panel is 10 months!!!!! The existing front panel is rooted and decent fronts getting really hard to find here in NZ. I’ll order the rest as they say 4 week delivery and decide whether to wait or get looking

Be careful with the expressed panels A post parts as the chap doing my Corsair has found them to be short in overall height and needing quite a bit of feta-ling to get them to fit properly. (link to build thread in signature below)

I'm surprised there is not a panel man in NZ that could make you a front valance?

Thanks for the tip on Ex Pressed Steel. I bought the inner wing kits for my 2 Door GT from the owners club and they were pretty average. Fine for a race car though. We ended up repairing the old ones and reusing. Pretty annoying when you pay good money and you have to spend the same again making them fit.

Sorry no updates as been so busy with work. I bought another 4 door shell which is pretty well rust free so we will cut it up for the rear quarters and front end to repair the original shell. It’s pretty tempting to swap the dash and rear radius boxes over to the other shell and it would be a lot cheaper than fixing the original GT but will spend the extra to keep it mostly original. Soon as the GT 2 Door goes to paint we are going to hit the bodywork on this.

Getting all the panels together and have scored NOS rear quarters and rear panel, have 4 mint rust free doors, new sills etc. think I will have to go Steel Panels UK for the front valance and slam panel. Here’s some pics of the bodge repairs done previously
