mario abreu 2 Posted February 1, 2018 Well, here is the reason I put my pick-up up for sale... Just bought this Mk4 Estate. It's a 1.6L with a genuine 6022 Kms on the odometer. That's under 4000 miles! Bought it off the original owner that was an emigrant in Germany. One time in 1977 having come to visit his home country and having no car to moove around in, he just bought this off the local Ford dealer. Kept unused in his garage for all this time. engine started and warmed frequently for 40 years, and driven sparingly. All original paint. Tyres are the original Goodyears it left the factory with. And in perfect looking condition too. Although I will use them for show only. It's grubby and needs a major service. Brakes are binding and water pump leaking.https://photos.app.goo.gl/cEfIEfbws6hTJpuF3 Interior is in brand new condition! Even smells new. Sorry for the poor quality phone photos... Quality ones will follow soon. Enjoy. https://photos.app.goo.gl/XoWeRKfbzv4CVjrI3 https://photos.app.goo.gl/EdiVUTFeJv7cbwvm1 https://photos.app.goo.gl/C5rVFC2KENoDy2Fv1 https://photos.app.goo.gl/s6nUUEqn3IFRUoEA2 https://photos.app.goo.gl/FlhA4rpVNKfZA3gn1 https://photos.app.goo.gl/AacdGHESCGp7PqCo1 https://photos.app.goo.gl/TwCpWKYxh4yOmwhA3 grubby on left... clean on right https://photos.app.goo.gl/NogC9EGY84HRc3Ik1 https://photos.app.goo.gl/cEfIEfbws6hTJpuF3

mario abreu 2 Posted February 1, 2018 (edited) Thanks. My concern now is.... do I use it? add up the mileage? I'm tempted to do so, and probably will. It's not often you get the chance to break in a new Cortina!... But then it will be only just another Mk4. Admitedly it will allways be well taken care of. Mk5Mike 36 Posted February 1, 2018 That is lovely - I say look after it but use and enjoy it! Even with some more kms on the clock, it will never be just another Mk4 with that history...
mario abreu 2 Posted February 1, 2018 :) I agree! Thanks. https://photos.app.goo.gl/pDkjXFHrbSUJN0ow1 https://photos.app.goo.gl/Q9kQIojkwCkGl99f1
RT 1006 137 Posted February 1, 2018 That's one smart looking estate, Mk4's are the best  . Looks like you are doing some work on the brakes?
mario abreu 2 Posted February 1, 2018 yes... brakes never got attention, so master cylinder is leaking and calipers are stuck. Will get new brakes for safety, new timing belt, tensioner and water pump.
Ady 28 Posted February 1, 2018 That is lovely - I say look after it but use and enjoy it! Even with some more kms on the clock, it will never be just another Mk4 with that history... As above. It was made to be used. I'd keep a record of everything done to the car to add to the history.

Lazarus 6 Posted February 2, 2018 Fantastic car Mário! That's the true barn find! Ride it, of course! Keep it original, that is museum stuff. But insure it properly, that is a very rare specimen these days! That one and the Bakkie are a surfers dream! Don't take them to Ericeira! Cheers! mario abreu 2 Posted February 2, 2018 :) Thanks Paulo. I will drive it! As I do all my cars. There are no modern cars in my garage. Actually.... the pick-up IS my newest car. All my classics are driven and this will be no exception. There. I said it! :)
