BSV205F 0 Posted August 23, 2018 That picture is exactly how I remember it goldsavage and still has the same number plates as I seen in '84 :playball: The old grey matter hasn't let me down Tony which am pleased about :showoff: but ask me what I did yesterday and I will have to think about it :oops: Anyone know how Trevor Smith is these days as am sure he sold CAN and got a Morris Minor but had a Scimitar. Sad bit for me about all this was that Gary offered me his Anchor Blue Savage (CGF 892H I think it was) in 1987 for £2000 but being in my early 20's with a mortgage etc put stop to that which was a big chance missed (he spoke about wanting an E type Jag I think). Tubbs transformed it brilliantly though as I remember it had an awful pop up glass sunroof and loud Appliance type 4 spoke wheels with a 3000E badge from a Capri on the boot amongst other small points. On the Savage subject, I worked with the Architects who designed the BCA Car Auction site at Blackbushe Airport and highlight for everyone was that Prince Michael of Kent officially opened it in early '86, except for me as on that day the icing on the cake was that they had an anchor blue Savage in the Concourse on display reg VYP11G I think it was and am sure I have a pic somewhere so will try a visit to "The Loft" this weekend to see if I can find it. Very sadly I never did hear from him (I think I enclosed an SAE too). Back in July 1990 his reason for selling (to Gary) apart from the fact he had vetted the car all those years previously and spending more money on the car, was to help finance a University place, for I think, his son. Its what dads do. I mentioned this sometime later to R.S. and he replied something to the effect "No, you won't hear from Trevor". BSV205F 0 Posted August 24, 2018 Thats a shame as I always found Trevor very helpful by phone or snail mail during the 80's but I seem to recall John Kirk telling me after the prizegiving at Lilford in 1990 he was moving on to other things which ties in exactly with your comments Tony. On the Savage subject, I wonder where John Kirks red Savage Estate is now that he bought from Martin Frow and am sure it ended in 7G on the number plate? I've just done an M.O.T. Gov. site check YGC 7G and it brings up a FORD Mk2 .... M.O.T. expired May 2016 with 90k odd miles on the clock with no advisories. So I'd guess its out there somewhere .... I'd be tempted to suggest maybe the Savage of all Savages ... Lots of lovely "trick" modifications done by the original owner whose name really escapes me a Sir Robert ?? BSV205F 0 Posted August 24, 2018 Funny thing is Tony that I would have thought that as well, but John told me that the red 1600E I have (his old one RRC454F) he preferred any day to the Savage :shocking: . In fact it was only a few years ago he asked me if he could borrow RRC for his daughters wedding as it was her favourite car as well and of course I obliged :cheers: , but the distance from Dunfermline to Derby put him off.
