I'll let you know tomorrow 😊 I have hadto put an extra silencer in the system today, because it was very noisy. Unfortunately it hasn't made much difference 🙄

johnny boy 159 Posted July 13, 2020 Shakedown testing all done. It drives great, goes well, I don't know how it compares to a duratec. Carbs run the car well, only a bit weak off idle, but certainly ok till it's dynoed. Gearbox is very good and tight. Axle is a helical 3.9 and is a good match for the gearbox. Suspension choice was good, flat in the corners, but not a bone shaker. All in all I'm very pleased. Too noisy , but it's a screamer. I had to replace the alternator this morning, because they packed up 🙄 Cooling is good. Seats are comfortable and just the right hight. And all that sound proofing is very noticeable. Just got to sort out the fuel gauge.

Bet its great to drive it, looks good mate. Yes the rear of the frames sit on the carpet where the originals sat , on the raised sections, that is where the strength is. I did build in the option of adjustable legs at the rear, as it felt I might need to adjust the rake, when I was sat static, so the rears were made 2 inch lower than the original seat set up. As it turns out when I'm driving , the rake with the seats I have is just right , so I don't need to fit them. It drives better than how I hoped It would, but didn't think it would, if you know what i mean, Totally more modern that the old steering box crossflow. The suspension is just right, the steering is positive, the engine is a screamer, gearbox is perfect. The overall gearing with the 3.9 helical diff seems just right. I really happy how its turned out. Seat frame pictures with the seats fully forward, so you can see where the frames sit. tonyg64 7 Posted July 14, 2020 Nice one. My seats are being recovered at the mo. I'll post them up when I get them back. My subframes are similar idea and I still have the rear parts to do and was also thinking of adjustable feet there. Remind me what you did with the rear springs, looking to sort mine soon too. johnny boy 159 Posted July 14, 2020 I used 1984 Capri single leaf springs and Capri rear shocks, and 2 inch lowering blocks. You need to change one of the pins in the shackle to fit the Capri bush. Where is your build thread, I couldn't find it
tonyg64 7 Posted July 14, 2020 What model capri ? Does engine size matter? I havent done a build yet as Im too slow lol. I'll add bits when its more "flowing" :)

That's all you need , unless you want your fillings to fall out. 😁
tonyg64 7 Posted July 14, 2020 I meant the leaf springs not struts :)

tonyg64 7 Posted July 14, 2020 Ok cheers. Is the shackle pin needed from the same car?

Use the Cortina shackle, but you need to use the Capri pin in the Cortina shakle on the one that goes in the Capri spring eye bush😬
