2.3 cologne sandwich plate and spigot missing

Recommended Posts

Im doing a clutch for a friend on his mk5 2.3 and when I removed the box I noticed it had no sandwich plate or spigot bearing fitted.... I assume it should have both but Im no expert on the 2.3. Advice would be very welcome.

Lack of sandwich plt is common & won't cause any problems, but it needs the spigot/pilot bearing in end of crank to support input shaft.

It sounds like either the car was originally an auto or the eng has been swapped for one from an auto

Just beware there are two different sizes of spigot bearing on the 2.3
