GhiaMk4/5 207 Posted December 2, 2019 This information was copied from another site, courtesy of 83GLS Ive just checked the Press release dated 12 June 1976 and it says that the car is available in Gold, Silver and Bronze and has the following equipment as standard: Long Range driving LightsMap Reading LightStereo/Radio Cassette PlayerLaminated WindscreenChrome Trim Rings185/70 Series Tyres. As the 2000E had chrome trim rings and 185s as standard, Ford were obviously bigging up the spec on what was a essentially just a 2000E with spotlights! There is no mention in the press release of production figures although it was mentioned in the July or August 1976 range brochure which ill check later. I thought l knew my limited edition models, a rare car, have you got one, or do you know where there is one ??
sheffieldcortinacentre 753 Posted December 2, 2019 Thought they were only available in gold never seen one ( to my knowledge) was told the radio/ cassette player was possibly a Philips (they made fords radios at that time) but as far as I know the first one wasn't avl until the turnlok In the MK2 Granada Ghia about a year later? By then I think only the map light & screen weren't std along with the above. Think this was the only special edition MK3 sold in the UK & in all mk"s only the mk5 carousel & huntsman being the only others.

John Mack 337 Posted December 3, 2019 Would the spot lights be fitted at the factory or at the dealer??……….just a random thought! I'm thinking at the dealership.
pancakedan 0 Posted December 3, 2019 I think the GT came with spots as standard from the factory, so it is a possibility.
John Mack 337 Posted December 3, 2019 ……….. would it be registered then as a 2000E Olympic ?
Steve Walton 130 Posted December 3, 2019 Would 1976 be the end of MK3 Production? It could be that Ford dressed up the run out MK3's with bits of bling to move them out of the showrooms. The did this with the MK5 and called the run out cars Crusaders with many of the parts been Ghia trim. Just my own thoughts. Cheers Steve
John Mack 337 Posted December 3, 2019 Probably just a good idea to sell more cars?!! I wonder if there was a price difference between a standard "E" model and an Olympic.
sheffieldcortinacentre 753 Posted December 3, 2019 Doubt the Olympic name would be on logbook, don't think it was on car. I think that's the only paperwork I've seen (got) relating to the model.
