MikeC 7 Posted December 21, 2019 Ok I have been sorting out the dash loom and wiper motor for re-fitting in my mk2. I was having a mental moment because I could not find where the extra blue wire on the wiper motor went. In the end I thought maybe it had 2 speeds hence two wires, so i checked the original wiper switch and it has two stages/clicks on the switch. I have never come across this before in a MK2 and I did not think Ford made one. Has anyone come across this before?. The only problem I have now is my old two speed switch is not usable so I need to find another one 😢
mk2sav 42 Posted December 21, 2019 Hi again Mike - came in here to tell you I cant get to the store for your part number - Christmas got in the way !! Then I find another query but this one I can answer !! Lotus Mk2 had 2 speed wipers and it probably was an option at the time . Strange thing is some foreign markets insisted on 2 speed wipers so that's probably where yours came from - Steve.

Neil. 118 Posted December 22, 2019 My J reg 1600E had two speeds, was not sure whether it was std or an option or modification? It was the only one I was aware of at the time so thought it had been modified.
kenbex522 34 Posted December 23, 2019 Dunno if these pics are any help to you. From my Corsair set up, I don't know if the colours are the same as mk2 tina. Two speed switch. Wires from left to right ! Thicker black wire goes to motor, red wire motor speed 1, thin black wire body earth, blue wire motor speed 2. Do not connect thick black wire to earth. Green wire is power + rest of wires go to the switch as listed.

TinaInTheForest 1 Posted December 23, 2019 2 speed was standard on the Lotus Cortina, but I've recently seen old adverts for the Mk2 in the USA where the cars are described as having 2 speed.
GhiaMk4/5 207 Posted December 24, 2019 I remember going to Ambleside in my series2 Lotus to look at another twin cam that had been butchered and a Fiat V6 put in it. On the way back it poured down and the roads flooded, and l am 100% sure l had 2 speed wipers, that trip has got to be 30 years ago. On this occasion, due to the work of the gas axe, l did not buy the TC.
