Heater issue

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have taken out my heater “engine side” and noticed there is a little red stick poking up through the body, however my heater doesn’t have a hole for it? Have I got the totally wrong bit?
Mine is a 4 door saloon 3.0L V6 “Not a Savage”
Any help please on what heater I actually need and where I could get one?

Tony is that mk3 as I'm not sure and heater doesn't look familiar. But here is my mk3/4/5 version and shows spigot where that connects to to operate flap.

Last pic is as in car

Yes, MK3 3.0L V6 Saloon - Not a Savage
There is a chap on FB who says a MK 4 and 5 heater will slot straight in. Is this correct, is it really that simple??

Also I notice my square hole is to the left looking into the engine from the bumper and the round is to the right.

Is this the same as the UK models?

Thanks

Mines pre facelift 3 and I got this mk5 to replace broken fiberglass early one.allthough not fitted yet I believe as above all the same . I'm assuming yours is an oz spec one then? So I think same rhd panel etc.  But looking at your old heater I think it is slimmer different version where the matrix is . I asume this is to allow more room for the v6 as maybe the hoses would foul larger your engine on our bigger heater box? Maybe someone else can clarify this as I have no experience fitting of v6 s in these. Here is my panel to compare.

I think it's the same just at a slight different angle of photo. But as I said matrix hose may foul with your right hand rocker cover?. Someone on here may have one for sale? But also someone may be able to confirm about it fitting or need different heater box? Shame you not closer and restrictions about or you could of trial fitted

That's because it's a South African heater box  the front face & matrix are different/flatter to clear the Essex V6

Otherwise there all the same & interchangeable ( you'll probably have to modify one to clear the pass rocker cover) similarly to I did on my V8.

Yours probably is the fresh air heater.

The one in pic from my bakkie has the flap like std version.

Also pic of my modified one.

If yours is an SA version it would be a shame to loose one of its unique features ( is it the perana one that was imported to the UK?).

Shouldn't be to hard to fit the flap in.
