Hi Sean,

I have a MK5 with a 4 speed auto box. I did away with the original radiator and fitted an external oil cooler. My 4 speed box has bigger oil cooler pipes than the 3 speed box but you should be able to source fittings.

Cheers

Steve

You can use a MK4/5 ohc one too.

To be honest I use desperate ones then no chance of water getting in box, plus easier choice of rad replacement.

A decent rad place should be able to get or rebuild one.

After that eBay.

As above, much better to go separate cooler for the trans, once the water gets in the trans it’s auto rebuild time £££££’s

Great advice guys

I have a spare new regular radiator so I will fit that and get a separate oil cooler radiator.

i guess I should mount it front and low away from the engine to maximise cooling.

Any pics of where you have mounted yours would be a great help.

thanks once again.

regards

Sean

Hi,

I mounted mine as shown. It now has a 10 Row oil cooler " Mocal Style" as the one in the picture sprung a small leak.

This is similar to the one I now have fitted.
