Dutboy 0 Posted July 15, 2020 (edited) Hi, Does anyone know of a pair of the larger M18 front calipers that might be available. These were fitted to the Mk3 2.0 estate and the P100. Any help or leads much appreciated. Happy to consider a pair in need of a build as well as ready to run. Thanks. Dutboy 0 Posted July 15, 2020 Thanks for the tip but big red recon calipers if you already have a set they do not have M18s in stock to sell outright. So I'm still looking for a set. I would also consider a set from a mk2 granada as these are the same but spaced for a vented disc. Can anyone help me source a set?
sheffieldcortinacentre 524 Posted July 15, 2020 Same as 2.0/2.3 mk2 Granada ( some 2.3 estates are vented).
kenbex522 34 Posted July 17, 2020 You need to try the banger boys on facebook etc . Getting very hard to find now in vented or otherwise.
Steve Walton 128 Posted July 17, 2020 (edited) A bit off the wall but would Capri 2.8i discs and calipers fit. The discs are ventilated. Edited July 17, 2020 by Steve Walton
martog 128 Posted July 17, 2020 (edited) 33 minutes ago, Steve Walton said: A bit of the wall but would Capri 2.8i discs and calipers fit. The discs are ventilated. Yes, straight fit. You need space the caliper slightly using a 5mm washer between the hub and caliper and use longer bolts ( i used the tie bar to lower wishbone bolts, if you have a spare set). Standard pads are fine and you need to lose the splash shield and the back. Also, you will need the longer pad retaining pins as well. sheffieldcortinacentre 524 Posted July 17, 2020 (edited) But only same size pad, I use the Capri vented disc & Granada 2.8 vented caliper (M 18 again) pad is about 40% bigger & still fits inside 13 in wheel. Any kit that will fit (available) mk2 escort/ MK3 Capri (depending on wheel diameter) will fit a MK3/4/5. Also the rear disc kits for Capri atlas axles ( as used under escorts) will again fit when used in conjunction with a Sierra disc brake cable. kenbex522 34 Posted July 17, 2020 I use the vented M18 cals on my Corsair with Capri vented discs. It is very tight clearance wise for Lotus rims, but I use ali hubs which push the wheel out just that extra bit. I also have a remote servo which reduces pedal effort so the brakes i feel are pretty damn good and on a par with the modern cars i drive.
sheffieldcortinacentre 524 Posted July 18, 2020 I've run the setup on several mk3's with STD & aftermarket wheels . On my MK3 GT for 30 years & half that with the 302 V8 I've run with mk3-4 escort solid discs on the rear with Sierra/Granada rear calipers. With gen MK3 Cortina RS 4 spokes.
