Front shocks “gas filled” MK3 V6 3.0

Recommended Posts

Has anyone got a pair of new front gas filled shock absorbers?

Must be man enough for the weight of a 3.0 engine.

Recommended supplier will help.

Thanks.

I’d skip the gaz shocks my self and go

with the good old spax  or bilsterns

I bought the shortened Gaz and they the front didn’t last more than couple thousand miles before the damping becomes crap

I have GAZ adjustables on the front of mine, no issues, been on for a good few years.

Few years ago now I bought them to go on my blue mk3 but ended up on my mk4 then on my mk5 probably done 3k max

I bought the shortened ones as I like my cars low , when I wanted to use them on the mk4 again one front was stuck down and one back the adjuster does nothing

and tbh the damping adjuster does either hard or soft , I bought spax for the blue mk3 and painted them black this time

oh not a fan of the bright screen dust covers on the gaz

So many replies, I’m back to square one!! Both have good and bad reviews so still unsure.

Perhaps keep original would be better? Replacing all the front end bushes with a NOS steering rack.

If your not going to lower it and put standard bushes in I’d go the standard route just get a well know brand

Question - given the 3L engine is heavier even than a Pinto the adjustables might be an important feature

Not going for performance or a race spec.

Just want a smooth and safe ride.

It's a popular misconception that different ones are fitted for different eng weights.

Just go for a good brand of gas shocker, Monroe, woodhead, etc.
