johnny boy 149 Posted January 14 Tomorrow's job is to fit the boot seal. It's a 1965 car, does it fit to the boot or the car ? I can't remember how it was when I took it off months ago 🙄 But I think it was on the boot.🤔 Could someone confirm , and does anyone have a close up pic of it fitted. Thanks people. johnny boy 149 Posted January 15 Well it's done, I had to take the boot off , and do the job on the kitchen table 😜 Still a fiddly job though.

GhiaMk4/5 140 Posted January 21 But will your boot ever fit the same again with the seal on, l have all new seals for my GT, at present all the doors fit really well, no seals fitted at all, but some people have had really bad experiences with panel fit after new seals. Yours does look like it may be nice and squishy so it shouldn't bigger up your panel fit, fingers crossed.
johnny boy 149 Posted January 21 To start with I stuck it on the wrong way , so had the remove it, and get all the glue off the seal and boot 🙄 What a job that was 😁 I then managed to stick it on correctly. As for fit , with the boot adjusted correctly , you really do have to slam it to shut, but I'm guessing that it will get better with use, it should wear on to the body. johnny boy 149 Posted January 21 I guess the seals you can get now are not the identical profile. I have the door seals to do next, I expect they will need a good slam too 🙄
chelseablue 17 Posted January 22 It will loosen up after a while, I managed to get a genuine nos seal many years ago and even that took a while to bed in.
