Time to say "hello" again

Recommended Posts

I've not really been active on here for some years.  I think I got disillusioned with the Cortina scene a few years back with constant political bickering over Brexit, peeps being a bit judgemental, and the hassle I got from some for moderating on here.  From there we had the collapse of the 1-5 Owners Club which despite being the Membership Secretary for I had very little say in what happened.  Then I lost my premises which meant I had to sell my mk4 2.0S, mk4 2.0GL, and mk3 1.3L (along with my mk2 Transit Autosleeper pop-top).  All while having a lot of hospital time saving my eyesight.

This isn't a sympathy post though!

I did get to keep my Silver Fox 1.6L with it's Ruby interior though which a lot of you already know about, and the weekend gone I've purchased a new to me Cortina variant and I'm beginning to feel the fun again.

This new one is a mk3 P100 Bakkie, '76 with the 2.5 Essex and 3sp auto box.  Some of you might already know it as it came from a fellow Ford enthusiast who got it direct from Car Cave some time back.  There's going to be some technical posts for it so hopefully there's still peeps on here that know them.  I can't seem to find any workshop manuals anywhere, and I need info to fix the non-operating umbrella handbrake, sticky rear right brakes, and the process for setting the valve clearances.  From there I'm also going to swap the km clocks to UK miles, which I'm presuming is a straight swap.

Anyway, have pics.  The days of Photobucket are long gone and the only way I've sorted yet is as an attachment to the post......

I pop in and out myself , but welcome back, shame you lost your storage, l got fed up of short term rented storage and bit the bullet and purchased a business unit, it's full, mainly of Ford's, now all I've got to do is get my motivation back

I did go to Stratford a few weeks ago and there was a few interesting Cortinas there that gave me a bit of enthusiasm, trouble is, we are all getting older.

Very nice pick-up

Can you (legally) have 2 passengers with it having the bench seat?  No seatbelts yes?

Thanks all.

It's been registered as a 2 seater so 1 passenger plus driver is the legal maximum.  You're right too, no seatbelts.  While this isn't major for me I'm not risking my 10 yo kid in there until I figure something out, and 3 point much preferred to lap belts.  B-post is narrower on these so not sure what to do yet, maybe weld captive nuts in place.

On a VW transporter I made a separate frame for the seatbelts, 40mm box section, as VW chose lap belts to secure passengers, I don't think so.

The mounts should all be there mine are.

P100 is only used to describe the UK market Mk5 bakkie.

Cheers Craig.  I'll soon know when I pull the home-made b-post covers off and lift the carpet.
