John Mack 337 Posted August 27, 2022 April 2023 is when you'll not have to pay for road tax, but you'll have to apply to change your car's V5 to "historic".

Hi John, I forgot to ask you last week at Dalemain if you had acquired Historic recognition for your Cortina?

I haven't yet Steve, it's tax'd which is why I've been lazy about sorting it out. If I had my house in order it would of got free tax at the start of April ! I believe that the MOT exemption is in line with the granting of Historical status to the vehicle. So yes April 2023.

I'm right in saying the car needs to have a valid MOT when it's V5 status is changed to historic ??

martog 149 Posted August 28, 2022 You can change the status of tax / MOT regardless if it has any anyway. Mines not been MOT'ed since 2019 and sorned since. Just bang off a V10 form with your log book and look forward to a nice new one that says "Historic Vehicle" in the Tax class.
sheffieldcortinacentre 753 Posted August 29, 2022 Mot you don't have to do anything , only logbook taxation class needs changing. Vehicle has to be insured.
