wolfrace 116 Posted September 22, 2022 Hello, does anyone know the correct oil & quantity to use in the steering rack please? thanks, Rich
Steve Walton 130 Posted September 22, 2022 Hi, I use ATF Dextron 2 in my Power Rack. There should be a Dip Stick on the underside of the Pump Filler Cap. Rock the steering from side to side with the engine running to fill the rack and check the level with the engine off. Steve
wolfrace 116 Posted September 22, 2022 Cheers Steve but this is a manual rack, not a power rack, not even sure what the method for getting fluid into one is. Couldn’t find anything in the Haynes manual. I had to change the boots as they were past their best.
dgo 80 Posted September 22, 2022 I don't have my mk3 manual to hand. If I remember right you need hypoid 75/90 or 80/90. Hopefully Craig will drop by to confirm
martog 149 Posted September 22, 2022 Yes, it's gear oil. Not much though, 0.15 liters.

wolfrace 116 Posted September 23, 2022 Thanks folks thats genuinely a big help. I couldn't find anything online. I fitted another rack the other week but noticed a slight amount of play that i wasn't happy with so that came off, hopefully this one is ok, dont fancy £240 for a new one 😬
