Rocker gasket 1.6 pinto

Recommended Posts

Starting a new thread on this.

how do you fit a rocker gasket as I’ve never fitted one on any car before. I just got one from the motor factor and it isn’t the shape I thought.

if it’s right going by the pic already sent how does it fit

Poke any holes that still have cork in them.

Then with rocker cover upside down smear some grease around edge.

Next place gasket onto cover & push the ears/lugs through the gaps to hold it on.

When you fit cover to head put all the bolts in but leave the two front vertical ones loose nip the others down then the other 2 last.

Cheers for that. I take it the narrower end goes to the rear of the rocker

Later cars, ie, Sierras and Granada's with pinto engines have the larger tabs that spread the load of the bolts, a useful modification if you can get some as they help prevent oil leaks.

The later ones had a slightly different cam cover in that the gasket area was bigger I think ?

Of all things, my brother in law had a forklift with a 2.0 pinto in it and it had the wide rocker cover and the bigger tab washers, he scrapped it before I had the chance to relieve it of it's rocker cover, damn and blast.
