Decided to Sell my MK5 Ghia

Recommended Posts

After much deliberation and seeing as it's Friday Market Place I have decided to let some one else enjoy my Car.

It is a 1982 MK5 Cortina 2.0 Ghia Automatic in Champagne Gold Metalic. It has Factory fitted P.A.S, Steel Sliding Sunroof, Electric Mirrors.

The car was my Hobby and I got as much if not more enjoyment working on it then Driving her.

She is registered as an Historic Vehicle so No Road Tax to Pay and MOT excempt but we have just got back from passing another years MOT with no issue.

I have owned her for 9 years and in the that time I have carried out a full body restoration, replacing and repairing what was required. This ended with a Full Glass out Paint Job in the original Colour.

I also refurbished the engine, Rebore, Pistons, Crank re ground, New Cam Etc Etc.

Fitted with Electric Fuel Pump and new Weber twin Choke Carb.

Running Gear was fully Poly Bushed, New Coil Springs, Gaz Adjustable Shocks.

The original 3 speed Auto Box was replaced with a 4 Speed Auto box with a new lock up Torque Convertor.

Price on Application Please

Someone will get a nice car. 👍

The pictures tell the story but if someone out there's after a great Mk5, I can vouch for this one.

I've met Steve and his Ghia on several occasions, the lucky buyer will be getting a cracking Mk5 from a great guy.

GLWS Steve

Did you sell your car in the end Steve?

Cheers

Hi, Yes the Cortina now has a new home down near to Newark / Grantham. I did put her up for Auction with Mathewsons of Bangers and Cash fame. But after two auctions she didn't attract a single bid.

But I did think that there seller and buyer fees are a bit steep. I sold it myself through a well known web site and been a bit to the wise it only cost me £25 to sell her.

Thanks for asking.

No plans for a replacement Classic Car I'm afraid.

I have been into restoring Classic Twin Shock Trials [Bultaco's] bikes for awhile now. And I was struggling for space in the garage. Moving cars off the drive, Cortina out of garage work on a bike and then put everything away. So the descision was made to part company with the Cortina.

I intend to stay on here as I enjoy the crack.

Cheers

Steve

Do you take part in trial riding yourself  , in competitions rather than just for fun ?

Good choice in trials bike, at 13, my mate who lived on a farm had a Bultaco trial bike purchased for him as a field bike, we had bog seats and his bike was like a rocket, pulled brilliant wheelies and could crawl along at a ridiculously slow speed, we were all very envious of that bike.

No Don't ride anymore, Wrong age to do any damage to myself. 71 is not a good age to break a Hip.

This the last one that I restored. I have another 3 in mid build.
